Spread the Word >> Inclusion
#pledgetoinclude
Wednesday, March 6 was national "Spread the Word Day" for Special Olympics! Our Unified team created a poster for students and staff at BMS to sign the "Pledge to Include!" Our poster is hanging in the hallway on the second floor, so if you still want to make the pledge you can stop by and sign it!
"People with disabilities still face exclusion, social isolation, and social abuse in schools, workplaces, and communities. This prevents us from building truly inclusive societal structures, where we can learn and grow together. The Spread the Word Inclusion campaign is aimed at showcasing the impact of inclusive language and actions so that the discrimination of people with intellectual disabilities can come to an end."
With spring arriving, we ask that you and your students look at the dress code expectations. This can also be found on page 55 of our student handbook.
Fifth grade students will take the writing portion of the ATLAS Summative Assessment on Tuesday March 5, and sixth grade students will test on Wednesday March 6. Testing will begin around 8:20 and will end around 11:00. Students cannot be checked out during the test for any reason. We encourage students to be present and on time for their testing day; therefore, bonus attendance points will be awarded.
Groups in Ms. Davis' classes were assigned a layer of the atmosphere to to teach the class about. They did a great job!
