Something new at Beebe Middle School this year is the BMS 4-H Club. With the support of our teachers and volunteers, BMS Students will select from a menu of hands-on project ideas to complete. 4‑H programs are available for children ages 8-18. So once a student leaves BMS, they can continue their 4-H careers in one of the many community clubs here in White County.
4‑H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing. Kids complete hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture and citizenship, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids can concentrate on one focus area or they can try a variety of programs throughout their 4‑H experience.
Regardless of the project area, all 4‑H programs include mentoring and career readiness as core elements. The 4-H competitive year gets underway in January with the County Bake-Off. Competitive activities continue at the rate of about once a month all the way through the summer. Just some of the events 4-H members have to choose from are the Dairy Recipe Contest, Talks and Demonstrations, Agri and Skills Day, Broiler BBQ Contest and many others. Watch for dates as details as we approach this exciting time of the 4-H Year.
