Mrs. Whitehead's Class is out of this World!

October has been a fun and exciting month at Beebe Middle School. The most excitement came in the form of space camp.  Close to two hundred fifth and sixth grade scholars attended space camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  Scholars participated in a mission that involved problem solving and team work related to launching and landing a space shuttle. They built model rockets and then had the fun of launching them. Scholars had fun riding the simulators and looking at all of the space artifacts located in the museum.

Not to be left out, the scholars who were not able to go to Huntsville for space camp participated in their own space camp days at the middle school.  Teachers put together space related activities for these scholars such as making an astrolabe, launching rockets using stomp rockets, and going on a space scavenger hunt. Hopefully, learning about space encouraged our scholars to become rocket scientists, engineers or astronauts.  Who knows . . . maybe one of them will be the first person on Mars.\r\n
