Happy Birthday to 1st grade teacher, Ms. Driskill!
We have been reading a book, Feelings, by Aliki this week. We have discussed different adjectives to express emotions, and students wrote stories about the time they felt happy, sad, upset, etc. We had fun drawing Emoji-like faces to show different feelings. 😆😑😔😄

During the week of February 26th - March 1st, we will be celebrate Read Across America! Read Across America is an annual event celebrated on or near March 2nd, which is the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss. It is a nationwide reading celebration that was created by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1997 to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among children.
Each class or pod will be celebrating with different activities. Your child's teacher will send information home. We are also excited to kick off March Book Madness. This will be exciting for students and teachers reading lots of books!
Thank you for your continued support and remember to read to your child often. Daily reading time creates the consistency and sense of stability that children need. Reading the same books over and over also allows children to predict elements of the story and learn through repetition. We look forward to lots of reading fun!

SROs are carefully selected, specifically trained, sworn law enforcement officers assigned work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts.
The SRO assignment is unique within the law enforcement profession. These officers fill a three-part role, serving as informal mentors or counselors, law educators and law enforcement officers to support the students and communities they serve. They are valuable and essential members of the education community who deserve unwavering respect and support from the public in the pursuit of keeping schools and students safe.
Happy School Resource Officer Day to BEC's own, Officer Cave! Thank you for your commitment to keeping our school safe and fostering positive relationships within our communities. Your hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated!
