Dear\r\nParent/Guardian,
\r\n
During\r\nthe weeks of September 10 and September 17 your child will take a MAP®\r\nGrowth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or tablet. We give students\r\nMAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic\r\ngrowth throughout the school year.
\r\n
It\r\nis very important to have your student to school during the times that we test.\r\nEach class will test during their computer lab time so you can verify that with\r\nyour child’s teacher. We strongly recommend that your child get a good night’s\r\nrest the day before their test as well as eat a good breakfast.
\r\n
MAP\r\nGrowth tests are unique in that they adapt to your child’s level of learning. If your child answers a question correctly, the\r\nnext question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is\r\neasier. This results in a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready\r\nto learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.
\r\n
Since\r\nMAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning,\r\nit’s easy for teachers to identify\r\nstudents with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in\r\nsimilar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.
\r\n
MAP Growth reports also provide typical growth\r\ndata for students who are in the same grade, subject, and have the same\r\nstarting performance level. Each school year,\r\nstudents in grades K-2 take the tests in the\r\nFall, Winter, and Spring.
\r\n
Following\r\neach testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth,\r\nwhich you can review with your child’s teacher for more insight.
\r\n
We\r\nare truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For\r\nmore information about the MAP Growth test, visit: NWEA.org/Parent-Toolkit.\r\n

Sincerely,
